Laura Mercier Oil Free Primer

A little while ago I was lucky enough to receive a Selfridges voucher, and so I immediately spent some time thinking of all the beauty products I would be able to try - and after asking around on the #bbloggers chat, this Laura Mercier primer was recommended as one of the best for shine prone skin.
I have been using it for over a month now and I love it! It looks more like a moisturiser when it comes out of the tube (especially in comparison to the Smashbox Oil Free primer which is almost jelly like). It doesn't smell too fragrant, and definitely doesn't feel heavy on the skin. It is also especially designed for sensitive skin, which means it hasn't irritated my face at all.
I tend to put it on my t-zone and let it dry while I put my normal moisturiser on the rest of my face. It minimises pores and leaves a smooth base to apply foundation on top of. In terms of whether it reduces that dreaded shine, it has been perfect at holding back greasy looking skin for as long as possible. However, when it does occasionally (and inevitably) make a little appearance - especially in this weather we have been having - I team the primer up with Kleenex Shine Absorbing Sheets. *If you have a Home Bargains near you, go and stock up on these beauts. I think they have been discontinued which is why HB are selling them at 29p per pack! Safe to say I stocked up on these.*
As I mentioned before, I brought this using a voucher - and although I love it, at £19 for the smaller size it is an expensive beauty purchase. So sadly I'm not sure that I will be able to re-buy all of the time. However, if you can afford it and want to treat yourself I cannot recommend this more! I will be using it until it's finished, but as a tiny bit goes a long way I think it will last a while.

If you have any primers you swear by please share in the comments! Especially if they are at a lower price :)

  1. So glad you like it, it is expensive though aye. The Bourjois Happy Light Matte primer is a decent alternative, though it has more of a velvet like finish x
